Jeffrey J. Jernigan to be honored with Distinguished Community Leader Award

The seventh annual fundraising event benefiting Phoenix Family Housing, “Lucky #7” will be held Wednesday, April 28, 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Kansas City. Rick Kahle of Lockton Companies, LLC serves as Event Chair. The evening pays tribute to the “glory days” of Las Vegas when the “Rat Pack” ruled and roulette and baccarat were the games of the day.

The fast-paced and fun event will include a silent and live auction, dinner and program. Jeffrey J. Jernigan, President and CEO of Union Bank will be honored with the 2010 Clifton R. Cohn Distinguished Community Leader Award. Jernigan will be recognized for his service and contributions to numerous local charitable and arts organizations. He has or currently serves on the boards of Turning Point, a Center for Hope and Healing, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, local affiliate, EPIC of Starlight Theater Association, Research Medical Center, Ozanam Foundation and Plaza Rotary Club.

The evening’s décor, food and fun will not only honor the success of seven annual events but will also bring back the sounds and memories of the “Rat Pack” as they made entertainment history with their remarkable upbeat entertainment style and smooth musical and comedy routines.

Phoenix Family Housing provides services to more than 5,600 people in affordable housing communities in the Kansas City area. For more than a decade, Phoenix Family Housing has helped residents living in low-income housing become self-sufficient and make lasting changes in their lives. Residents receive on-site access to more than 20 programs, such as emergency and long-term services, on-site food and pantry services and counseling, in addition to information for those seeking help with medical care, employment, housing and other critical needs.
