A campaign we can all get behind.
Imagine being a parent who can't afford to buy diapers for their little one. It's a situation that can be incredibly tough.<\p>\p>These parents feel stressed, guilty, and caught in a heartbreaking dilemma - having to choose between buying food or diapers.
Here's the thing: support programs like WIC and SNAP, which are supposed to help families in need, don't cover the cost of diapers. On top of that, diapers are still taxed as luxury items in Missouri. Diapers are pricey, and for families living on limited incomes, it's an expense that falls outside their reach.
Some parents end up reusing used diapers or leaving their babies in dirty ones for longer, simply because they can't afford new ones. No parent should have to face these hardships when trying to provide for their child.
Most local pantries limit diaper benefits for families to 50 diapers a month, which is only a fraction of the average of 280 diapers a child goes through in that time. That’s a huge gap for a parent to cover on their own. The families we serve are already struggling to make ends meet.
Babies need diapers to stay clean and healthy and we need your help to relieve this insurmountable burden for families.
